December 15, 2001Grass Valley, CA
Tristream’s work on Cisco Systems I-Deal intranet sales application was awarded a place by the Nielsen Norman Group among the "Top Ten Intranets of 2001". The award is given to intranets showing particular strengths in usability such as ease of use, efficient task-flow and work-flow and the ability to learn and remember within a short amount of time, as well as hundreds of other detailed criteria.
The Nielsen Norman Group, founded by web usability guru Jakob Nielsen said the I-Deal intranet was particularly worthy of a place in the top ten because it was created within a multi-team corporate user environment necessitating successful strategic planning, user research and meticulous attention to user needs. "This design is testament to what you can do when you commit to collecting feedback before you code."
"We were particularly happy to get this award", said Michael Coombs, Director of Experience Design at Tristream, and project lead on the I-Deal project, "because we did a number of innovative things and satisfied the needs of a large group of people in the process. A lot of things came together to make this project shine." Jane Baker, the I-Deal project owner at Cisco said about Tristream, "These guys are a new breed of consultants."
